In an effort to draw my projects out into longer and nastier things, I purchased 8 ounces of roving last month. The color is called "Denim". I brought my drop spindle, and I've begun spinning. I'm taking the singles and winding them on my skein winder. Then, I take both ends, and put the ball on my finger, and I Peruvian (or Andean) ply the singles. I could use some practice. A shetland scarf pattern awaits this yarn.
I like the subtle color changes. Is it one of the Ashland Bay merino rovings?
ReplyDeleteLove it. Do you ever get an eye for seeing a roving and imagining the yarn or even the finished scarf? To my eye the stuff in the two pictures look completely different.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is Ashland Bay, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteI can definatley see this as a finished scarf. I don't think I'd have the desire to do this if I could not visualize something specific.
So, how's the ballerina coat doing? Too busy studying?
ReplyDeleteOh, let me know how this goes. I am consciously trying to avoid learning to spin, because it will be one more craft to play with.
